Sniff Sniff I will miss you!

There are a few colors that are retiring that I am sad to see go. One of which is Brilliant Blue. I LOVE this color and I use it quite a bit. It is PERFECT for Patriotic cards, and I like it for winter greetings. Nothing like a dark blue winter sky with white snowflakes! But anyway, I did go and buy a few packs of the Brilliant Blue for my own use as I KNOW I will use it often and the blue you get at the craft stores...well it certainly isn't BRILLIANT!
So if there is a color you just can't "live without" and it is on the above retiring list, be sure to get it before it is gone!!! Oh and don't forget ink refills, and ribbons, brads.......**sigh**

Pretty Baroque Motifs

I have loved this set since my very first Shoebox swap with the Philly Inkers. I had been a Demonstrator for not quite a month, and I was just in awe of all of the beautiful creations that I saw there! I took a scrap paper with me as I made every one's cards and wrote down the names of all of the sets that I liked. I had a great time, but boy did it cost me when I got home! LOL, good thing I get a discount!!!

So anyway, I am still trying to go through and use some of the sets that I haven't used recently, and I think this is one of those sets. The Cardstock is Whisper White, Bravo Burgundy, and Basic Black. The flourish is stamped in StazOn, while the flowers are stamped in a scattered fashion in Bravo Burgundy. Then I finished it off by tying a knot in the ribbon. I made a few more of these, but changed it ever so slightly. I have to get a picture of those and post at a later time.

Upsy Daisy!!!!

I am a little behind in posting pictures due to my camera being out of commission! It had an unfortunate "meeting" with the ground!! I just got it back on Friday, so I am trying to take pictures of some of the creations I made in it's absence. I did take pictures with my daughter's camera, but her's isn't really meant for close ups!

The daises and sentiment are from the "Upsy Daisy" stamp set from Stampin' Up! I used the wonderful "Sanded" background on the Old Olive strip. The Daisies are stamped on the Naturals White Cardstock (love it), and the other cardstock is Rose Red. The ink is the Rose Red Classic ink as well as the Basic Black Classic ink.

This picture is pretty dark, I will have to retake the picture and post it. Stay tuned...

Faux Metal Tin Ceiling

One of the great things about being a Stampin' Up demonstrator is the resources available to us! Stampin' Up has a site, exclusive to Demonstrators that Demonstrators around the world can post cards they've made, share techniques, chat with each other and more. The site is called Stampin' Connection.
I found the instructions for this technique on Stampin Connection, by Diana Gibbs. I CASEd the layout for this card from one she had made. You start with a neutral color cardstock, and then cover it in Versamark, and then silver embossing powder, heat and repeat this process a few times until you get a nice solid silver. After it is nice and cool cut out square and run through an embossing machine. The folder I used here is not SU, but it's what I had on hand. then you just adhere the squares down, and Viola! I used Ballet Blue, Whisper White, and Basic Gray cardstock. Then I finished it off with Whisper White Taffeta ribbon.
Now I didn't start out making this card! Actually I was attempting to make a Faux Tapestry (I think that is what it is called) card, but I didn't do it right. So that is when I grabbed my silver embossing powder. So there are a couple of places that you see some color coming through the gray. If you do it the right way, you won't see that! You will have a nice solid silver. But you know what they say "Practice makes perfect" and I am definitely trying this card again! I am not giving up on that tapestry card either! :)

Stampin Up's Spanish Catalog

Ok so at Stamp Camp I had the opportunity to look at the Spanish Catalog for Stampin Up! Can I tell you there are some really cute sets in there!?!?!? I am jealous! There are a lot of sets that are the same as the English catalog, but there are sets only available in the Spanish catalog!

So...I decided to add the Spanish Catalog to my blog! See it there on the side bar? Click the picture and it will take you to the link! (I can't seem to figure out how toadd it in this post!) Take a look you may find something you love too!

Stamp Camp Creation 2010

I was asked to help put with the Stamp Camp put on by my Upline Claire Lawrence, and my fellow PhillyInker Heather Yates yesterday. It was a lot of fun, and the ladies that attended were just great! This is the second Stamp Camp that I helped them with, and both were a great experience! A few of us got together before hand and made the projects. This is two of the cards the participants were able to make. We kissed the "Butterfly Accent" stamp with the "Dot, dot, dot" stamp from Stampin' Up. I had never tried this before, and I love the results! The little butterfly accents are from the "Beautiful Wings" embosslit folder. And the sentiment is from the "Whimsical Words" SaleABration set. If you want these stamp sets, don't wait! The Whimsical Words is available for FREE during SaleABration ONLY! And currently all of the other butterfly items are in the Mini Catalog which ends on April 30th!!!!
These cute cards were Claire's design!! Thanks for sharing with us Claire!
